The rector would like to express his appreciation to all who made Lent, Holy Week, and Easter so special.  Without the committed support of the Altar Guild, the lay readers and chalice bearers, the ushers, the acolytes, the music staff and choir, and the entire parish staff it would be impossible to make all of this happen.  There is a certain amount of unexpected ambiguity that inevitably creeps into to these liturgical events.  Not a single person complained or hesitated; rather, together we all pitched in and did what needed to be done to provide a meaningful and spiritual season for all the parish.  My thanks to each of you.

St. Paul's Men's Social/Service Club will be meeting on Tuesday, March 25 between 7 and 7:45 p.m. at the Drum Room in the Hilton President Hotel (1335 Baltimore) for pregame prior to going to Municipal Auditorium to watch the Championship game of the NAIA National Basketball Tournament, which begins at 8:30 pm. Jim Carr has generously offered tickets to those interested in attending the game. Contact Doug Beichley, Doug_Beichley@ellerbebecket.com , to let us know you are coming. We must have an accurate head count for this so reservations are required.  Parking is available at Grace and Holy Trinity.

Book signing at Barnes and Nobles--Friday, March 28, 2008 at 7pm—Author Susan Carroll, Episcopalian and college chaplain, will be signing her newly published book, Escaping Toxic Guilt, at the B&N on the Plaza.  Her publisher, McGraw-Hill, writes of this book:  "Do you feel responsible for everyone around you?  Do you value the feelings of others more than your own?  Do you have unrealistic expectations of yourself?  Then you may be trapped by toxic guilt.  Trying to win the approval of others--whether they are your parents, spouse, colleagues, friends, children, or church--while being trapped by toxic guilt can strain your relationships, drain your energy, and dominate your life.  The five easy-to-follow steps in Escaping Toxic Guilt can liberate you from these self-defeating patterns and put you on the path to living life fully and joyfully, on your own terms, and free from this powerful emotion"--Friday, March 28, 2008 at 7pm, Barnes & Nobles on the Plaza.

FYI--Tullintrain West Scottish Pipe and Drum Band--St. Paul's Parish Hall has recently become the practice hall for Tullintrain West, a Scottish Pipe and Drum Band.  They will normally be practicing on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon.  This group is composed of twenty members about evenly split between pipers and drummers.  In addition to their personal practice on Saturday mornings, they also offer lessons for those interested in learning the bagpipes or Scottish drum technique.  Adults and children are invited to consider taking lessons.  If you are interested, contact the rector, srunnels@stpauls-kcmo.org , and he will make sure you get connected to Tullintrain West.  We look forward to their occasional presence at parish events as well.

(please note, they are not authorized to let anyone into the building so don't come to the church for other reasons at that time expecting them to open the door for you).
