Children's Activities
June 20-23: 9-noon
“Jesus went throughout
Galilee, teaching in their Synagogues and
proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and
curing every disease and every sickness among the
people.” Matthew 4:23
Join us in the
re-creation of a village by the Sea of Galilee as
we experience the stories of the calling of the
disciples, feeding of the 5000, and the
Beatitudes. Experience the drama and life of a
Biblical village when Jesus walked the earth.
Hear stories, sample food, engage in crafts and
join in the fellowship of the community.
This ministry
is for Children in grades 1-3 and meets each
Sunday from September-April from 10:30-11:00
following Sunday School. This group focuses on
outreach and mission. We feel that children are
capable of practicing their faith in many ways
and this is one way to provide them with an
opportunity to share in a faith that is lived
out. We make cards and desserts to share with
Meals on Wheels; pictures for shut-in; vases for
the Community kitchen, care packs for the pantry
and a host of other projects. The children are
brought to worship during the passing of the
peace
This group of
young people is forming a life philosophy. They
can be troubled by personal, social, and global
fears (war and disease). Youth of this age group
can grasp principles of Christian living usually
as applied to their own problems and faith styles
are conforming and are influenced by peers and
adults. This group incorporates the use of the
lectionary-based curriculum, Living the Good
News, with the attitude series, which
presents powerful sessions on real life issues
for teens chosen by teens. Each session is
scripture bases and includes topics such as
questions of faith, transitions and growing
closer with God, emotions, friendship, family
issues, school and acceptance, world religions,
television and prejudice. Add to this mix the
God of My Heart prayer book for youth,
written by youth, resonating real-life themes for
teens and you will have a ministry for youth that
is meaningful, relational, and transforming. All
we need is bringing the youth together for this
time on Sunday mornings.
