Parish Nurse Health Ministry

What is a parish nurse?

God's call to the faith community is to be a nurturing, supportive and healing presence. A parish nurse answers this call by applying nursing knowledge to promote health in all areas of life. The parish nurse promotes health and wellness by tending the "whole" person through a holistic approach, meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Throughout the year, the parish nurse coordinates such activities as blood drives and CPR classes, helps develop support groups for parishioners, and maintains a bulletin board of helpful health information. The role of the parish nurse expands as different needs arise in the parish.

Jill Watt began her ministry as Parish Nurse in December of 2001 after being certified through the Parish Nurse Program of St. Luke's Hospital. Her ministry is a valuable addition to St. Paul's.
